Layout Progress

2011-06-02

  • It has been a long time since I updated this website. The reason is that I was forced to tear down my layout. Yes I did and it was not fun at all. I got serious problems with the lumber I used. I decided to start all over with a new method. I bought a Festool TS55 Plunge Cut Circular Saw and rip all my lumber from 21mm thick birch plywood.

The TS55 is the best investment I have ever made. Yes it's expensive but so accurate and nice to work with. I took me about 5 hours to rip one birch plywood board 1220 mm x 2440 mm in size. I think it can go much faster if I use the Festool Parallel guide system. Maybe I will buy one.

I rip 100 mm and 50 mm wide lumber. 100 mm for the l-girder and 50 mm for all the rest. I glue 2 pieces of 50 mm lumber together for the legs. I was so satisfied with the Festool TS55 that I bought a Festool C12 Cordless Drill as well. I really love my new tools.

I am on the right track again.
